Friday 24th November

A big thank you to the 12 volunteers who turned out for our Friday Irregulars session today. Roger and Lord Len were first to start - they cleaned out, checked and repaired 40 nest boxes in the woods, and installed metal hole protectors on each one. The rest of the group cut willow from around a hibernacula in the reed beds. We were glad to be joined by Christa from Surrey Hills Society and Claire from Plant Passion who were both harvesting willow to create Christmas wreaths.
Afterwards we all got to watch Roger check the female Barn Owl roosting at the Kiln - she looked healthy and we were able to read her ring details.
