Today we had the pleasure of hosting, in partnership with the Surrey Hills Society, a corporate work party for staff from the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Together with the wonderful Surrey Choices Growth Team and our own volunteers, we had 38 people working on site today!

We built two hibernacula (for hibernating reptiles) and two stumperies (for stag beetles), using logs we’d saved from coppicing the old hedgerow in Lisa’s Wood. We also made a great start to clearing the overflow ditch from the Bat Lake to the river Blackwater. We’ll continue this work in a couple of weeks and hopefully it will help the water levels go down a bit faster.
